Orphan Black* in general has been rocking me. Every single time you see two of them talking to each other, and then remember that they're both the same person, doing a very convincing job of talking to someone who isn't actually there. And the whole "This character didn't appear this time, I guess the actor had a day o- wait, no, that can't be right".
But the moment that really rocked me was Alison ditching her "soccer mum" lifestyle, kicking ass with the intervention that was thrown and really standing up for herself.
*British show about clones. No, they're not all clones of this one person who existed long before they did, they're just a human cloning experiment in the sense of cloning a fertilised egg.

I thought the movie was pretty fun. The review I read beforehand said that it was basically a retread of Wrath of Khan, and I was like, "Hey, cool! I haven't seen Wrath of Khan, so this should be pretty enjoyable, and it might have interesting ideas I haven't seen before."
And the guy who'd seen some old Star Trek stuff liked it too, so nostalgia factor wasn't a negative in our case.
EDIT: why did I use the word "cool" 3 times in one paragraph? I don't know. When I reread my post a while later, thesaurus mode was irresistible.

I don't know if minority is the right way to put it. The new Star Trek movie isn't Rob Schneider level terrible by any means, but the performances and lineage is good enough that people feel comfortable holding it to a standard the movie can't quite live up to. This article does an admirable job of describing the position of people like myself.

I was checking out Chris Avellone's twitter for something unrelated, and I saw him recommend a mini-comic that won some award. I thought it was really cool.

Moment when a piece of entertainment rocked me: Mephasm from the Neverwinter Nights 2 OC was a fun character, but the dialogue where you try and sell him your soul for no apparent reason was pretty hilarious.
Especially when you realize what the "blind sacrifice" actually entailed. The stakes are just so low, I don't know if its funnier assuming Mephasm deals with everyone like this or just PCs.

The Digger Omnibus Kickstarter
In the words of Ursula Vernon: "I am not sure, but I think this is the first Kickstarter offering commemorative hand-forged pickaxes for sponsors."
This is, however, the first kickstarter I'll contribute too.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

I haven't even read Digger yet, but I wish I had $1500 to give Ursula. Hell, I wish I had a spare $250 just to get a hyena name.
Cuz apparently I gotta break this down for you dense motherfuckers- I'm trans feminine nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them.

You've never seen The Wrath of Khan? Seriously?Avoraciopoctules wrote:I thought the movie was pretty fun. You must. It's possibly the best of the even numbered TOS movies, and the even numbered TOS movies are awesome.
Prak, in all honesty, I recommend it. Get crackin'. Like, now.Prak_Anima wrote:I haven't even read Digger yet, but I wish I had $1500 to give Ursula. Hell, I wish I had a spare $250 just to get a hyena name.
And the hyenas have names like Shadebones, Skull Ridges, Blood Eyes, Owl Caller, and Boneclaw Mother (BCM is freakin' righteous). Their top two gods are named He-Is and She-Is. And one of their major demons, a temptor, is named Sweetgrass Voice.

I very much like Ursula's work, I just haven't gotten around to reading digger yet. I would love to be able to help her with the project and get a pick and have dinner with her at a con just to have the opportunity to talk with her.

I liked that one on a meta level. You assume that the "blind sacrifice" is going to be some sort of thing where in the distant future terrible stuff happens as discussed in the epilogue or you gain a pile of evil points, and then your favorite sword is missing.Avoraciopoctules wrote:Moment when a piece of entertainment rocked me: Mephasm from the Neverwinter Nights 2 OC was a fun character, but the dialogue where you try and sell him your soul for no apparent reason was pretty hilarious.

I thought the ending was a little weak, particularly in light of the show's premise.Tumbling Down wrote:The new Venture Bros. episode. It was fucking great.
Not only was the Doc successful, but he was successful in a largely consequence-free fashion, barring the loss of a few Tommies, which frankly no one apparently cared about anyway.
Even creepier, this week has Hank successfully being a badass.
I am curious to see where thing are going. Personally I'm hoping it is just giving them some minor victories so they have further to fall when everything inevitably goes to shit later.
...who? I just checked IMDB to see who that was, but that name is no where on the cast list
